More Metro service improvements, beginning May 28

In keeping with the original Metro Solutions promise to increase bus service by fifty percent, Metro has announced a new round of bus route changes/cancellations:

METRO Service Adjustments Coming Sunday, May 28, 2006!

Service Adjustments/Schedule Adjustments

1 Hospital Weekday – Adjust peak hour frequency from 15 to 18 minutes.

3 Langley/West Gray Weekday – Adjust peak hour frequency from 15 to 18 minutes, and midday and late evening frequency from 30 to 40 minutes to match ridership demand.

4 Beechnut Weekday – Adjust southbound afternoon peak hour service from 12 to 10 minutes, and northbound morning peak hour service from 10 to 12 minutes. Discontinue the 11:56 p.m. northbound trip and the 12:50 a.m. and 1:20 a.m. southbound trips due to low ridership.

6 Jensen/Tanglewood Weekday – Discontinue the 10:25 p.m. southbound trip due to low ridership.

8 South Main/Yale Weekday – Add 3:16 p.m., 3:46 p.m., 4:31 p.m., and 4:46 p.m. southbound trips to meet ridership demand. Discontinue the 12:15 a.m. northbound trip due to low ridership.

9 North Main/Gulfton Weekday– Add 5:53 a.m. and 4:13 p.m. southbound trips, and 3:45 p.m. northbound trip to meet ridership demand. Adjust the frequency of trips after 5:07 p.m. from 24 to 35 minutes.

14 Hiram Clarke Weekday – Discontinue the 12:06 a.m. northbound trip due to low ridership.

15 Fulton Weekday – Adjust frequency to match ridership demand and to provide more reliable service. Discontinue the 11:33 p.m. southbound trip and the 11:37 p.m. northbound trip due to low ridership.

18 Kirby Weekday – Discontinue the 8:47 p.m. southbound trip and the 8:55 p.m. northbound trip due to low ridership.

20 Canal/Long Point Weekday – Discontinue the 11:39 p.m. westbound trip due to low ridership.

23 Crosstimbers Crosstown Weekday – Add 3:40 p.m. eastbound trip to match ridership demand. Adjust late evening frequency from 27 to 35 minutes.

25 Northline/Richmond Weekday – Adjust morning peak hour northbound and afternoon peak hour southbound service from 15 to 8 minutes to match ridership demand. Discontinue the 12:05 a.m. northbound trip. Add 4:01 p.m. southbound trip and 7:26 a.m. and 25 Northline/Richmond 8:38 a.m. northbound trips to match ridership demand.

26 Outer/27 Inner Loop Weekday – Due to low ridership, discontinue the following trips between the Southeast Transit Center and the Texas Medical Center Transit Center: (counterclockwise) 10:12 a.m., 11:12 a.m., 12:12 p.m., and 1:12 p.m., and (clockwise) 6:18 a.m., 9:37 a.m., 10:37 a.m., 11:37 a.m., 12:37 p.m. and 1:37 p.m. trips.

29 Hirsch Weekday – Adjust frequency from 18 to 23 minutes to match ridership demand.

30 Clinton/Cullen Weekday – Discontinue the 10:40 p.m. northbound trip due to low ridership.

33 Post Oak Weekday – Add 6:23 a.m. northbound trip and 6:19 a.m., 3:07 p.m. and 3:19 p.m. southbound trips to meet ridership demand. Discontinue the 10:58 p.m. and 12:35 a.m. southbound trips due to low ridership.

36 Kempwood Lawndale Weekday – Add 2:50 p.m. and 4:50 p.m. eastbound trips and 3:50 p.m. westbound trip to meet ridership demand. Discontinue the 10:22 p.m. westbound trip due to low ridership.

40 Pecore/Telephone Weekday – Discontinue the 11:20 p.m. eastbound trip and service to the Gulf Coast Health Center due to low ridership.

44 Acres Home Weekday – Adjust late evening frequency from 30 to 35 minutes.

45 Tidwell Crosstown Weekday – Add 2:44 p.m. and 3:13 p.m. westbound trips and 2:49 p.m. and 3:32 p.m. eastbound trips to meet ridership demand.

47 Hillcroft Crosstown Weekday – Adjust peak hour frequency from 20 to 30 minutes and midday and late evening service from 30 to 40 minutes to match ridership demand.

48 Navigation/W. Dallas Weekday – Discontinue the 10:14 p.m. westbound trip due to low ridership.

50 Heights/Harrisburg Weekday – Add 6:39 a.m. westbound trip and 3:13 p.m. and 4:53 p.m. eastbound trips to meet ridership demand.

52 Hirsch/Scott Weekday – Adjust northbound after- noon peak hour frequency from 12 to 10 minutes to match ridership demand. Discontinue the 12:39 a.m. northbound trip and the 1:08 a.m. southbound trip due to low ridership.

56 Airline Weekday – Discontinue the 12:20 a.m. southbound trip due to low ridership. Saturday – Add 2:26 p.m. and 4:14 p.m. northbound trips and 1:24 p.m., 3:12 p.m. and 5 p.m. southbound trips between Greenspoint and I-45 North. Sunday – Add 2:26 p.m. and 4:14 p.m. northbound trips and 1:30 p.m., 3:18 p.m. and 5:06 p.m. southbound trips between Greenspoint and I-45 North.

58 Hammerly Weekday – Adjust peak hour frequency from 15 to 18 minutes. Discontinue the 8 p.m. eastbound trip due to low ridership.

65 Bissonnet Weekday – Discontinue the 12:28 a.m. eastbound trip and the 1:29 a.m. westbound trip due to low ridership. Add 4:29 a.m., 6:30 a.m., and 6:50 a.m. eastbound trips to meet ridership demand.

68 Brays Bayou Crosstown Weekday – Adjust late evening frequency from 30 to 35 minutes. Add a 3:41 p.m. westbound trip to match ridership demand. Saturday – Discontinue the 10:50 p.m. westbound trip and the 11:19 p.m. eastbound trip due to low ridership. Sunday – Discontinue the 10:35 p.m. westbound trip and the 11:10 p.m. eastbound trip due to low ridership.

70 Memorial Weekday – Discontinue the 5:35 a.m. westbound trip and the 5:40 a.m. and 7:40 p.m. eastbound trips due to low ridership.

72 Westview Weekday – Discontinue the 8:05 p.m. westbound trip and the 8:39 p.m. eastbound trip due to low ridership.

78 Alabama/Irvington Weekday – Add one 3:06 p.m. north- bound trip to match ridership demand. Discontinue the 9:37 p.m. southbound trip due to low ridership.

83 Lee Road Weekday – Discontinue the 8:46 p.m. southbound trip and the 9:41 p.m. northbound trip due to low ridership. 85 Antoine Saturday – Add 7:57 a.m. southbound trip to meet ridership demand.

88 Hobby Weekday – Discontinue the 11:26 p.m. and 12:26 a.m. northbound trips.

98 Briargate Weekday – Adjust late evening frequency from 35 to 40 minutes.

108 Veterans Memorial Express Weekday – Add morning and evening peak hour service from the North Shepherd Park & Ride to Downtown due to the discontinuation of the 201 North Shepherd route. Additional service includes: 6:21 a.m., 6:36 a.m., 6:41 a.m., 7:01 a.m., 7:21 a.m., and 7:41 a.m. southbound trips; and 4:10 p.m., 4:30 p.m., 4:50 p.m., 5:05 p.m., 5:30 p.m., and 5:45 p.m. northbound trips.

163 Fondren Express Weekday – Discontinue the 12:16 a.m. eastbound trip due to low ridership. Add 7:49 a.m. and 4:09 p.m. eastbound trips and 6:14 a.m. westbound trip to meet ridership demand. Saturday – Adjust afternoon frequency from 35 to 30 minutes to meet ridership demand.

201 North Shepherd Park & Ride Weekday – Discontinue the 201 North Shepherd route and combine the service with the 108 Veterans Memorial Express.

204 Spring Park & Ride Weekday – Adjust various peak hour trips between 4:16 p.m. and 5:16 p.m. to reduce overcrowding around the 5 p.m. hour.

205 Kingwood Park & Ride Weekday – Renumber the route to be the 255 Kingwood Park & Ride in an effort to create a unified numbering system for Park & Ride routes within the Eastex corridor.

206 Eastex Park & Ride Weekday – Renumber the route to be the 256 Eastex Park & Ride in an effort to create a unified numbering system for Park & Ride routes within the Eastex corridor.

221 Kingsland Park & Ride Weekday – Extend the split after- noon bus service (separate 221A and 221B) routes to help reduce overcrowding and improve service reliability during afternoon peak hour service. A Trips will depart at: 4:28 p.m., 4:37 p.m., 4:46 p.m., 4:54 p.m. and 5:02 p.m. B Trips will depart at: 4:30 p.m., 4:40 p.m., 4:50 p.m., 4:58 p.m., 5:06 p.m. and 5:15 p.m.
