New Metro service "improvements" coming January 21st!
It's a new year and Metro has decided it's time for some new service adjustments. (Alas, Metro no longer calls them service "improvements." What a shame.) Metro is so excited about this latest round of adjustments (including some route downsizing), there's an exclamation point at the end of the press release title! Woo hoo!
METRO Service Adjustments Coming Sunday, January 21, 2007!
METRO is implementing the following route and schedule modifications to provide more efficient service. The information within this brochure will inform you of any changes that may affect your daily travel.
Please note that METRO peak service hours are Monday through Friday from 5 to 9 a.m. and 3 to 7 p.m. Late Evening service begins at 7 p.m. and continues until the last trip of the night. The frequency of each bus is calculated by how often, on average, a bus arrives at each stop along its route. Of course, weather, traffic and the number of boardings may affect the frequency of a route.
The list of adjustments follows:
1 Hospital
Weekday – Adjust peak hour frequency from 18 to 15 minutes between the TMC and downtown to eliminate passenger overloads.
4 Beechnut
Weekday – Discontinue the 12:26 a.m. eastbound trip due to low ridership.
10 Willowbend
Weekday – Discontinue the 12:25 a.m. westbound trip due to low ridership.
14 Hiram Clarke
Saturday – Adjust the last three southbound trips by five minutes to allow connection with METRORail.
Sunday – Discontinue the 12:35 a.m. northbound and the 1:08 a.m. southbound trips due to low ridership.
15 Fulton
Weekday – Discontinue the 11:03 p.m. southbound trip due to low ridership.
24 Northline Weekday – Discontinue the 11:50 p.m. southbound trip due to low ridership.
25 Richmond
Weekday – Add 7:06 a.m. and 5:19 p.m. trips on the Mission Bend Branch to eliminate passenger overloads.
29 TSU/UH
Weekday – Discontinue the 4:40 a.m. southbound trip due to low ridership.
Weekday/Saturday – Remove service from Cullen Blvd. to simplify route structure.
30 Cullen
7 days/week – Remove service from Cullen Blvd to simplify route structure.
36 Lawndale
Sunday – Discontinue the 10:12 and 10:53 p.m. westbound trips due to low ridership.
40 Pecore/Telephone
Weekday – Discontinue the 10:06 p.m. westbound and 10:50 p.m. eastbound trips due to low ridership.
42 Holman
Saturday – Discontinue the 8:51 p.m. westbound trip due to low ridership.
7 days/week – Remove service from Cullen Blvd to simplify route structure.
53 Westheimer
7 days/week – As part of the Westheimer Corridor restructuring, all trips will operate via Briar Forest to Westside High School. The route will be renamed to the 53 Briar Forest. Weekday peak frequency will be increased to match ridership demand.
58 Hammerly
Saturday – Discontinue the 9:10 p.m. eastbound trip due to low ridership.
67 Dairy Ashford
Weekday – Remove service north of I-10 Katy Freeway and along Bissonnet west of Dairy Ashford. Frequency will be adjusted to match ridership demand.
68 Brays Bayou
7 days/week – Remove service from Cullen Blvd to simplify route structure.
72 Westview
Weekday – Discontinue the 7:49 and 8:14 p.m. eastbound trips due to low ridership.
73 Bellfort Crosstown
Adjust the last eastbound trip time to allow connection with METRORail.
77 Martin Luther King
7 days/week – Remove service from Cullen Blvd. to simplify route structure.
Weekday – adjust trip times for more effective service.
79 West Little York
7 days/week – Remove service from West Little York and Vogel and place on Victory and TC Jester during long term construction of bridge over Vogel Creek/White Oak Bayou.
80 Dowling/ Lyons
7 days/week – Remove service from Cullen Blvd. to simplify route structure. Remove service from Cavalcade, Darien and North Loop to match ridership demand and improve on time performance.
82 Westheimer
7 days/week – As part of the Westheimer Corridor restructuring, the 82 Woodlake Branch will be eliminated and trips will be extended from Gessner to West Oaks Mall.
97 Settegast
Weekday – Discontinue the 8 and the 8:30 p.m. northbound trips.
108 Veterans Memorial
Weekday – Discontinue the 10:30 p.m. southbound trip due to low ridership. Extend the 4:50 p.m. northbound peak trip from North Shepherd Park & Ride to FM 1960 to eliminate passenger overloads. Adjust the 5:45 p.m. northbound trip to 5:50 p.m. to match ridership demand.
202 Kuykendahl Park & Ride
Weekday – Adjust evening peak trip times for more effective service.
209 Kuykendahl/ Spring Park & Ride
Weekday – Renumber and rename North Freeway Corridor Midday/Late Evening service in anticipation of the upcoming fare restructuring.
212 Seton Lake Park & Ride
Weekday – Renumber 212 Seton Lake trips that operate through North Shepherd Park and Ride lot to the 108 Veterans Memorial in anticipation of the upcoming fare restructuring. Move the 108 stops downtown to Milam.
219 Pinemont/ West Little York/Northwest Station Park & Ride
Weekday - Renumber and rename Northwest Freeway Corridor Midday/Late evening service in anticipation of the upcoming fare restructuring.
221 Kingsland Park & Ride
Weekday – Add a 5:08 p.m. outbound trip to eliminate passenger overloads. Adjust the 5 a.m. inbound trip to operate directly to downtown.
228 Addicks Park & Ride
Weekday – Add a 4:45 a.m. inbound trip to service the Kingsland and Addicks lots.
229 Addicks/Kingsland Park & Ride
Weekday – Renumber and rename Katy Freeway Corridor Midday/Late evening service in anticipation of the upcoming fare restructuring.
244 Monroe
Weekday – Move morning peak Park & Ride southbound trips from Milam to LaBranch to increase reliability.
244 Monroe
247 Grace Church
Weekday – Remove service from Grace Community Church due to low ridership (effective 12-29-06)
246 Bay Area Park & Ride
Weekday – Move morning peak southbound trips from Milam to LaBranch to increase reliability.

Weekday – Renumber and rename Southwest Freeway Corridor Late night service in anticipation of the upcoming fare restructuring.

Weekday – Adjust inbound trip times between 5:55 and 7:20 a.m. for more effective service.
