- Rally for Reform? Paid Activists Support Single Payer System (Big Jolly Politics)
David Jennings continues his fine town-hall citizen-journalism at his new blogging home. There were three buses that arrived between 5:45 and 6:30 pm. I think that ACORN paid for them but was never able to nail that down for certain, although I did try. Two people from the buses told me it was ACORN but a third person told me, in very broken English, that his job sent him there. He identified himself only as Rodrigo and was carrying a SEIU sign. I asked him if he was getting paid and he said yes. I also asked him where he worked, he said at a hotel but wouldn't tell me the name. But regardless of who actually paid for the buses or was paying his salary, the fact is that a large portion of the supporters at this rally were provided transportation, given t-shirts and signs, and paid to be there.

- Truce! (Musings) It's good that everyone calmed down and decided to play happy, we suppose, but here's the lesson to be drawn: If you're going to cut-and-paste from any source, you'll never be accused of plagiarism if you attribute, and attribute in great detail. Here on the blog, when we cut and paste from news stories, our attribution generally includes a link, as well as the name of the author and publication. And we've been trying hard lately to limit the length of the excerpt, because ripping 10-12 grafs in a short post with little attribution is a not-dissimilar abuse of the work of others (something many bloggers ignore). Proper attribution and fair use are good practices!
