New METRO service "improvements" begin today

METRO has posted a new listing of service changes effective June 1st -- today!

Just because METRO no longer calls them "service improvements" doesn't mean we can't continue to relive METRO's PR department's glory days, although some might argue that with a spokeswoman who likens stray current to a 9-volt battery, we are still in the PR department's glory days. But I digress.

METRO Service Adjustments
Coming Sunday, June 1, 2008!

METRO is implementing the following route and
schedule modifications to provide more efficient
service. The following is a list of planned changes
that may affect your travel.

Service Adjustments/Schedule Adjustments

2 Bellaire 7 days/week – relocate layover location fromTres Lagunas to Mission Bend P&R Lot.
Saturday - Add a 4:34 a.m. eastbound trip from Mission Bend Park & Ride Lot and adjust trip times to eliminate passenger overloads.

4 Beechnut 7 days/week – Adjust running time to accommodate extension to Dairy Ashford. 8 South Main 7 days/week – Discontinue duplicate service west of West Bellfort Park and Ride. Route will only operate one loop on westbound trips.

9 Gulfton Weekday – Adjust the 5:49 a.m. northbound trip to leave six minutes earlier in order to meet
the 102 Bush IAH 6:44 a.m. northbound trip.

19 Wilcrest Weekday/Saturday – Relocate layover location to West Bellfort Park & Ride Lot and adjust trip
times for more reliable service.

24 Northline Weekday/Saturday – Adjust weekday peak frequencies from 15 to 18 minutes. Adjust
Saturday frequency from 20 to 25 minutes, to match ridership demand.

33 Post Oak 7 days/week – Adjust running times for more reliable service.

38 Manchester Weekday – Re-instate stops along Harrisburg and Broadway between Magnolia Transit Center
and Manchester.

45 Tidwell 7 days/week – Adjust running times formore reliable service.

49 Chimney Rock Weekday – Adjust running times for more reliable service.

53 Briar Forest Sunday – Adjust span of service. Add a 5:06 a.m. eastbound trip from Westside High School
to Downtown to match ridership demands.

56 Airline Weekday – Extend service to Greens Parkway, Greensmark and Crown Park to serve several
apartment complexes, two schools, a post office, and a senior citizens apartment complex. Remove service from portions of Greens Parkway and Greens Crossing.

64 Lincoln Weekday - Due to a closure of City Circulator the bridge on Arncliffe by Harris County Flood Control District, removed service from Gulf Bank, Arncliffe, Streamside, and Antoine. Route was extended north on Montgomery via Stallings/ McCrarey (effective 3/24/08).

72 Westview 7 days/week – Adjust running times for more reliable service.

77 Martin Luther King Weekday - Move southbound trip to South Acres, Selinsky, and Martindale to match service to customer demands.

78 Alabama/Irvington 7 days/week – Adjust running times for more reliable service.

79 West Little York Weekday – Adjust running times for more reliable service.

82 Westheimer Weekday – Add 1:10 & 2:30 p.m. westbound trips between Gessner & West Oaks Mall.
Sunday – Add a 5:25 a.m. eastbound trip to match ridership demands.

102 IAH Weekday – Add a 12:05 p.m. northbound trip, extend the 6:00 a.m. southbound trip from
Greenspoint to Downtown, to eliminate passenger overloads. Saturday & Sunday – Adjust frequencies from 50 to 40 minutes and adjust trip times to match ridership demands.

132 Harwin Weekday/Saturday - relocate layover location to Mission Bend Park & Ride Lot.

202 Kuykendahl Park & Ride Weekday – Discontinue the 8 a.m. inbound trip, and the outbound trip at 7:05 a.m. Discontinue the 5:15 p.m. outbound trip to match service with ridership demand.

204 Spring Park & Ride Weekday - Discontinue the outbound trip at 5:08 p.m. to match service with ridership
demand. Add one inbound trip at 5:53 a.m. and adjust trip times to eliminate passenger overloads.

209 I 45 Park & Ride Weekday – Add a 2:50 p.m. Midday outbound trip to eliminate Service passenger overloads. (effective 3/4/08)

214 Northwest Station Park & Ride Weekday – Discontinue the 5:13 and 5:17 p.m. outbound trips and adjust trip times to match ridership demand.

217 Cypress Park & Ride Weekday – Add a 4:25 p.m. outbound trip and adjust frequency from 12 to 10 minutes to eliminate passenger overloads.

222 Grand Parkway Weekday - Adjust running times for more reliable service.

247 Fuqua Park & Ride Weekday – Adjust AM peak frequency from 6 to 7 minutes, and PM peak frequency from 5 to 7 minutes to match ridership demand.

255 Kingwood Park & Ride Weekday – Adjust running times for more reliable service.

256 Eastwood Park & Ride Weekday – Adjust running times for more reliable service.

257 Townsen Park & Ride Weekday – Adjust running times for more reliable service.

262 Weekday Westwood Park & Ride – Extended selected PM outbound trips to West Bellfort Park & Ride Lot (effective 3/4/08) to eliminate passenger overloads.

265West/ West Bellfort Park & Ride Add inbound trips at 7:36 and 8:12 a.m. Also, adjust trip times between 7:24 and 8:24 a.m. to match demand.

298 Kingsland/Addicks/TMC Park & Ride Weekday – Add inbound trip at 6:16 a.m., and outbound trip at 4:00 p.m. to reduce passenger overloads. Extended 2 a.m. and 2 p.m. trips to serve Kingsland Park & Ride Lot (effective 4/9/08).

700 MetroRail 7 days/week – adjust running time for more reliable service.
