Spivak: Barack Obama and me

This week's Houston Press has an interesting story by Todd Spivak on Barack Obama. Spivak covered Obama when he was an Illinois state legislator, and has some interesting insight on the presidential candidate.

We generally don't delve into national politics on this blog unless there's some local angle (and I'm not really trying to start a discussion about Obama's politics here, although I suppose it's fair game), but in this case I thought it was worth noting Spivak's story, because it's likely to get some national play, and it's an example of the gritty journalism at small newspapers that can inform down the line that appeals to me.
