Hotel ZaZa shines light on broken Mecom Fountain

We noted at the start of summer that a dark Mecom Fountain -- and the fact that the city could manage neither to prevent the vandalism that darkened it or to effect repairs of the Museum District landmark -- was not exactly world class.

As KTRK-13's Miya Shay notes on her blog, the Mecom Fountain is now lit again.

Thanks to the Hotel ZaZa and its floodlights.

It's mind-boggling that a city with Houston's tremendous resources (and record revenues) cannot manage to repair the lighting of a vandalized city landmark, but probably there are not enough well-connected political donors and/or municipal contractors pushing city officials to get it done.
