The CoogFans crew will not be happy with Hoffy!
The Chronicle's Ken Hoffman attended a Dynamo playoff game, and was not impressed with the dump known as Robertson Stadium:
With the success of the Houston Dynamo, who are playing for the MLS championship Sunday against the New England Revolution (hate them), how about a new stadium for our soccer guys?
For our loser teams, we build palaces that would make Saddam Hussein proud, but we force the Dynamo to play in ratty Robertson Stadium with lame food stands and bathrooms that look like the ancient Romans built them.Last Sunday, I was walking to my seat and noticed a small box sitting in the open next to a concession stand. I asked a guard, what's that? He said, "It's a rat trap." Lovely.
Later I was told that when Dynamo officials toured Robertson Stadium before the start of the season, they found a huge dead rat in the press box.
Let's find the Dynamo a new home near downtown.
Robertson is a dump. There is no doubt about that. I just don't know that it logically follows that because Robertson is a dump, the Dynamo now deserve a multimillion dollar playpen courtesy of the local sports taxing authority.
Still, there's not much doubt in my mind that Oliver Luck is going to get a nice new playpen from the local sports taxing authority (which should have been disbanded some time ago). And UH will still be playing in a dump.
