Veteran NFL writer regains some perspective (as predicted)

On Tuesday night's podcast, Ethan and I talked about the lack of perspective that seems to afflict some veteran Chronicle sports scribes who cover the NFL.

I went off on one particular writer, whose liveblogging of the last game reached almost hysterical levels.

Ethan made the good point that as the week progresses, these guys usually calm down and regain a little perspective.

Right on cue, McClain wrote a pretty good column yesterday discussing the Texans' lack of talent (which should have been evident from the start of the season if not long before). And today, McClain posted that it's too early to get down on Gary Kubiak and listed similar records of some pretty good coaches in their rookie seasons.

So, advantage Ethan, for predicting exactly how the coverage would go this week!
